2001 Hamacher Pinot Noir
“One of the exceptionally rare outstanding Oregon reds from its vintage, the 2001 Pinot Noir displays cedar-tinged black cherry aromas. This medium-bodied, ample wine sports a lovely satiny texture, loads of spice-laden blackberries, dark cherries, and hints of blueberries. It is harmonious, lush, and has a long, fruit-packed finish.”

We agreed with Parker when this review was written way back when, (circa 2004.) The relevant news is what does it taste like today? It tastes FANTASTIC! The 2001 Hamacher Pinot is in its glory right now! This is what Oregon Pinot Noir is all about. Balance, nuance, complexity, suppleness with an amazingly sweet center, held by fine aged tannins and perfect acidity. An evening could be spent just enjoying the complexity of its perfume. It was in search of making wine like this that pushed so many winemakers, myself included, to move north to the Willamette Valley, Pinot’s Promised Land. A special and rare treat to be shared with those you love! A very limited number of bottles are waiting for you at the winery…but they will not be waiting long!
